We recently adopted a puppy from the pound and when we took her home she had horrible fleas. Now the cat, house and family have them too! I've tried sprays for the dog and house, salt, lemon water, dawn dish soap, shampoos, EVERYTHING! I have no more money to keep buying products that don't work! I need a sure solution.

The only sure solution to the problem is to address it professionally. Call an exterminator right away! It may even take two sprays. We have had that problem and believe me, it really is the ONLY way!
Also, I forgot to mention, you will have to take your animals to the vet and have them dipped for fleas. They can give you Frontline to keep the fleas off after that.
You're probably going to have to head to the vet's and pick up some Advantage or whatever the big name for that stuff is now...it costs a little bit, but you will definitely keep your animal flea-free for 3 months and it comes with a guarantee.

you can use it on the pets and use on carpet and then vacum it up. look up sevin 10 on google
I highly recommend Frontline, Advantage, Advantix or similar products. We've been using them for years. We went from a huge flea problem to no fleas whatsoever. It's not cheap, but it actually works. We find that it lasts longer than advertised, so we usually only have to buy a box per year per dog.
I bought my Front line or Advantage on Ebay. Even with the shipping it was a great bargain.
You might look up diatomaceous earth but I think I remember about using it on carpet.

or canister immediately and this will help with carpets
Go to the vets n get Capstar for each animal. Also get Avantix, Avantage, Frontline, they are all good
The capstar will kill all the fleas with in 30 min. The diamatecous earth prod is good too. Spronkle it on your carpets wait a day n then vacuum it up n toos the bag. Hope you have a great day.
SALT-Simple store brand table salt.
Vacum and sweep your home and then sprinkle table salt everywhere. I even put it under couch cushions. I vacum and sprinkle salt everyday for a week and then every few days I will put it on and leave a few days then vacum it. I keep doing for any fleas left to hatch. It slows them down fast and with in a few weeks they will all be gone. They eat the salt and it dries them out and kills them right away. We also put apple cidar vinager (enough that they don't notice) in the dogs water and that keeps them off of the dog.

PS If you get bites put white vinegar on them and they will not hurt or itch. This works for ants, bee's and most other bites.
I had flea problems a while back and my dog was allergic to all flea medicines. I found something that I use for my skin to keep it soft and it works to keep the fleas of my dog too. It's AVON Skin So Soft bath oil original. I would use a spray bottle and put 1/2 Skin So Soft with 1/2 water and spray on my dog.
Borax is the only way to go. It is cheap and very effective. I had a very bad flea infestation late last summer after trying the expensive stuff at the pet store, that didn't work, I heard about Borax, just sprinkle everything with it sweep it into the carpet furniture and leave it there for 24 hours then vacuum it up and get rid of the vacuum bag. About a week later do it again to get rid of the babies that have hatched. After 2 applications NO MORE FLEAS FOR ME AND MY DOGS.
about the vinegar in the drinking water - it really works! My mom lives in an area where people have really big problems with fleas. She read about the vinegar & began using it with her dog as a pup. The dog went in & outside all the time & NEVER had fleas & neither did her other dog & 3 cats.
Let me mention that her animals & house have bee FLEA FREE for over 17 YEARS in an area where everyone had a problem with fleas!! The vets thought she was crazy, but couldn't explain why it worked, because she's never used anything else.
Frontline and other treatments from your vet or groomer does not keep the fleas off the dogs , I asked the groomer and she says that the flea has to bite the dog then the Frontline will then kill the flea. Seems crazy I know, I pay good money for my dogs every 4 weeks or so to get treated and they still end up with fleas. I use lemon (any brand I use the cheap stuff) dish liquid you can watch the dead fleas coming off, you need to wash them really good and leave the soap on them as long as you can maybe 5 min. or so. Then this is the most important part, you then need to use some sort of hair conditioner (again I use the cheapest Suave coconut smell) you need to leave it on their hair as long as you can 5 more min. The dish liquid dries out their skin and is really bad for them, so don't forget the conditioner. So now you can treat your dog for around $3.00 and that's thrifty!
