Keeping Ice From Melting

When in need of an ice chest of ice, the last thing you want to happen is your ice that you bought to melt before you are ready for it to. Save your 20 oz. plastic soda bottles and fill them up with water and place the lid back on them and place in freezer to freeze. When filling an ice chest, place several of these frozen water bottles in with your ice, you will be amazed at how much longer your ice will stay frozen! Works every time!

PLEASE DO NOT FILL THEM TO THE TOP!!! Fill the bottles no more than 2/3 of the way to leave room for the ice to expand. If you use clean bottles and fill them (part way, please) with fresh water, you can have really cold water for drinks after your picnic, etc. The center will thaw last and make an 'ice tube'.
