Replacing Incandescent Bulbs with Compact Fluorescents

Replace your regular light bulbs with the spiral shaped ones.
I did and saved a couple of dollars on my electric bill.
Besides that they last a lot longer. Buy less bulbs so there is a savings there also.

I recommend switching to compact fluorescent light bulbs. These bulbs use 75% less energy than typical light bulbs and they last 10 times longer.

I did this last year and we figured out that we saved $30.00 this year in our electric bill alone not counting the money we saved from not having to keep buying regular light bulbs, was worth the money spent on them

Well you must have been saving already..because when I switched. The first month I seen a $20.00 drop in my bill...boy was I happy...and it is nice that the bulbs last longer..they even sell them now at the aldies..big lots ..and other discount stores

There is a downside of switching to the Fluorescents. You lose all 'heat' previously dispersed by the incandescent. So winters will be just a little costlier due to the additional heating costs, and if you have any items that are UV sensitive (paintings, etc.) the fluorescents will fade the colors over time.

Museums avoid fluorescent lighting unless 100% UV protected.
