How long will mushrooms keep in the refrigerator?

It varies a little depending on how fresh they are, but usually I wrap them in paper towel, then put them in a plastic bag or container. I've used them as long as a week later. Not sure how much longer. You can usually tell if they are bad if they get slimy, or if the gills open way up it means they are over ripe.
