Attic Smell in Home?

We have a 30 year old home that has been completely repainted, the carpet removed, and one third of the floor covered in tile. Yet a persistent attic smell remains if the house is closed up for even a small period of time. There is exposed concrete in the living room, dining room and bedrooms, could this be the problem? Any ideas how to solve this issue?

Hmmm...by attic smell do you mean moldy mildew smell? Block walls are notorious for having a damp feel and smell to them. Water can collect inside the block walls. I know this happened to my family when I was growing up. We had a two story block house that was not "sealed:" and water seeped in when it rained heavily.
