My son has a homework question for which I need your help please. Here is the question.
Mum has a spider plant which developed runners. The baby plants on these runners are genetically identical. Mum potted up 2 of these baby plants and gave 1 to gran and 1 to auntie. After 4 weeks gran's plant was twice as big as auntie's. Explain what has happened to the plants.

Differences in light, temperature, mineral content in the water, feedings , and so on. Spider plants are nearly impossible to kill, so maybe Gran pampered hers and Auntie neglected hers--and while it didn't die, it also didn't grow.
Spider plants like to be pot bound.This forces the plant to put out more babies and growth. They grow very slowly when there is too much room in the pot.
