Buying Jewelry Online

Silver Post Medal for All Time! 364 Posts

When you look at jewelery online, it is sometimes difficult to gauge size. If you can see the individual links or prongs, chances are it's smaller than you realize. Also, look at the hand, tweezers, or object the item is shown against - sometimes this is a good indicator of size. Lastly, take the time to figure out the metric measurements - the item may be too large or too small for your taste.

Another good indicator is if the silver or gold is really shiny, it's just filled. Silver and gold are like the difference between glossy and matte photos. 925 silver or sterling is not super shiny. As is 24k gold. Remember that gold and silver are soft metals, so they bend easily. That is why they have nickle in silver and iron in gold to keep the rings round. If you are easily allergic to metals, you may find that the nickle breaks you out. Or, your skin temporarily turns green when the item is worn for a day.
