Does anyone know where I can get free flower bulbs?

Check with local high schools which have an agriculture program, at the end of their annual sales they sometimes have leftover plants to donate or give away. Also check with your county or city dept. of parks as they often will have plants to give away. Local colleges sometimes have these programs and I know that our local habitat for humanity sometimes sells some very cheap almost free. Hope these help.
Several bulbs reproduce via new bulbs. Daffodils (boy, DO THEY!), bluebells, grape hyacinth, hyacinth, etc. Iris and lily of the valley rhizomes add new rhizomes at the edges of old rhizomes. Gladiolus, crocus, and freesia produce new corms much like new bulbs are produced. Day lilies and dahlias are root plants that throw out new roots. To keep these plants growing well and continuing to flower they need to be separated periodically
Find a friend or neighbor who has a whole lot of these plants growing in their yard and ask if you can have some of the "babies" when they are ready to divide their plants. Since dividing and replanting can be a lot of work, your chances of getting freebies improve if you offer to help!
