What does this "granny knife" look like? What is it made of?

There are some listed here as granny knives:

My mom had what she called a granny knife but it looked like what they call a small paring knife.

I used to own a kitchen gadget shop and sold granny knives. They are made by Lamson-Sharp. Call "Kitchen Tools and Skills" (419) 872-9090 and if she doesn't have them in stock, I'm sure she can order one for you.

I've seen granny/paring knives even at Wal-Mart. If you want a super quality one just go to a local specialty kitchen store near you.

I should be more specific but those of us "older" know this"Granny Knife". Not like any we see that we google or specialty shops. It was a gift to me from my Mom when I married back in 1966. We both still have our "Granny Forks". Thanks to all who have responded so far.

If you married young then you're not much older than me and I do know what a granny knife is ;-)

If you really want one that's called a granny knife instead of called a paring knife and would rather order online instead of shopping locally you can place your order here:

dealstalk.info/.../index.html?kw=Old+Knife+broad&pagekw...

Once you open the link just type granny knife in their search box and what they have for sale that day will appear ;-) I don't know what they charge for shipping and handling.

Out of curiosity, is your granny fork a three prong or a six prong?

Try Ebay! You can find just about anything on Ebay! But, I find that shopping on Ebay can be addicting! Good Luck! Elizabeth Jane

Hi! I've been doggedly searching for these for the past couple years. I can't find them either. Black handle, smooth thin blade, rounded tip, etc. I have one I bought probably 10-15 years ago and would purchase more if I could find them.

Did you ever manage to locate any? I sent an email to the 'Kitchen Tools and Skills' shop. I'll post if I get a response.

My Granny knife (chef's knife style) went kaput just about a month ago. I've searched like mad today to find something that will work, but to no avail. I DO have a Granny paring knife in the package that shows the company as "Imperial Knife Co., Inc." in Ellenville, NY. In Wikipedia, the info shows an assumption by the Schade company, and then a demise of Schade Imperial in 2004.

The company taking over was Taylor Brands, LLC. I looked in that catalog, and found only one page with Schrade cutlery, but nothing resembling the Granny.

I suppose I will never open my paring knife package now.

Oh, and my knife blade is fine, but bolster/finger guard has deteriorated. I think it was made out of potmetal or something (hopefully, not lead).

I will miss my Granny.

Ebay has a few right now. Imperial knife 4" and a 7" as well. Great knives, I love mine.

I have a few of them and can spare one since my supply should last me till I am 200 years old! Happy to sell one if you can pay a fair price.

Let me know what's its worth and I'll ship it right out. Thx Abe

They are called 'Vintage' Granny's Paring Knives. I too have used them forever, and now it's time to buy another. I love the flexible blade
