Burning Javalogs

Bronze Post Medal for All Time! 166 Posts

During Christmas we experienced some very cold weather. We have a fireplace and have not used it because firewood has been high in our area, plus my husband has asthma and we do not like to burn some types of wood. A friend told me about a firelog she used that cost $3.49 each at Albertson's store. I purchased one and we used it on Christmas Eve. This faux log is made out of old coffee grounds. I have already purchased several more to have on hand. It is a Java-Log.

The Java-Log is 100% natural, even the package it is wrapped in is recycled. The maker of this fire log gets old grounds from companies that make instant coffee and from some other coffee houses. The Java-Log burned for almost three hours. It gives off very good heat. Loved it and I do think this is a great Thrifty way to enjoy a nice fire in the fireplace. It also saved me the clean up from my husband carrying in real wood. If you do not have an Albertson's in your area, do a search for Java-Log and find a store near you that sells them. I love using items that are also helping recycle.

what a great idea! I always wonder what could be done with used coffee grounds.
I am wondering if we could recycle them?

Thanks for sharing. I've never heard of this product before and have passed on your info. What an excellent way to recycle coffee grounds!

Does it make the room dusty, like real fire wood?
