mix up a batch of soupy cement and take old metal cake pans any size any shape and pour inside them to make stepping stones. you can mix a bit of paint in the concrete mixture to get them colored. and you can lay in old shells on top of them after they have set some for interest, use or give as gifts to others. do the same thing using an old metal trash can lid up side down for a bird bath top, set your top on an old tree stump or anything eles sturdy enough to hold it.

Make yourself a barbecue pit (you can buy the top racks at Home depot or Big Lots, they are made as "warming racks" for name-brand grills) or pour the cement into a mold & make some stepping stones or "bricks" for your flower bed. Do you have kids or grandkids? If so take a shallow cake pan & cover it with a new plastic trash bag (to line it) then pour in the cement & let them put their hand-prints in this when the cement is partially set up... next. let them fill in the other area with those pretty flat glass marbles from the dollar store or glass beads... then if it's small & light weight enough you can hang it up or use in the garden or as a stepping stone (every kid wants to press their hand in wet cement!) There's also LOTS of great recipes where you mix cement with peat moss or vermiculite & slather this onto Styrofoam & chicken wire (or between 2 bowls) to make wonderful (but lightweight) cement pots to hold flowers & herbs. There are also wonderful recipes" online for making fake boulders from cement & these "boulders" or rocks can have an indentation in the top to plant flowers & the like.

---> WANNA ADD REAL GROWING MOSS TO THESE PLANTERS?
Just take some dried sheet moss (Do not use Spanish moss!) & add a bit of buttermilk or plain yogurt (*for the cultures) & lots of water, now swirl this around in your blender or food processor until it's "liquid" & spoon or brush this on to the cement & leave your container in a shady (or northern) area & lightly mist it with some water for about a week & in several months you'll have wonderful, soft, bright green moss... This moss recipe can also be poured onto mounds in your garden for a great look. I like to pour moss through the cracks in cement walkways.

How about making Hypertufa rocks or other items of interest to decorate your garden and yard. Attached is the web site for just that purpose.

Mix up the cement and put it into ice cream pails. About 2 inches thick should be good. Use these as stepping stones in your garden. There are tons of ways to decorate them.....

**Get your kids/grandkids to make a hand print along with the date. A great keepsake.

**Decorate with polished stones or pretty/interesting stones you find at the beach.

**Dollar stores sell polished rocks, marbles and glass rocks you can decorate the stepping stones with.

**Beer bottle lids...if hubby is a beer fan :)

I used the cheap flower pot saucers in differant sizes to make my stepping stones. I asked for free discontinued tiles, broke them up and here is what they looked like.GG Vi
