Succulents like jade plants (and others I don't know the names for but look like cabbages) are VERY EASY to propagate. Just break off a twig of the succulent and stick into soil and voila! Nine out of ten times, it takes root!

I like to use succulent cuttings to fill decorative plant holders (like vases) and use several different kinds for a designed look. Cost = $0 (if you have succulents or have a friend who has some). They also don't need much water and are very drought resistant. You will see that they get a bit shriveled when they need some water.
