I have 11 cats and 9 dogs. It is too expensive to buy Frontline or the equivalent to get rid of the fleas. I am also on disability so money is tight. How can I get rid of the fleas very cheaply?

Try borax in your carpets. Leave in over night vacuum and throw the vacuum bag out right away and a teaspoon of vinegar in the drinking water. Helps deter them.
The product I use is a cedar based super concentrated oil, from the Cedarcide Store, that you can dilute with water and it goes a really long way. I bought a quart size bottle of their product over 3 years ago called Pet-Horse Livestock Concentrate and Indoor Flea Control and it isn't even halfway gone. I just mix a capful of it and add it to a spray bottle of water. It makes up to 100 gallons and it kills on contact... not just fleas either.
I use the spray bottle and mist my dogs with it during the summer when the mosquitoes are out and it repels them along with gnats and other annoying insects that bite. You can also use it on puppies, kitties, babies and yourself as it is non toxic. Since your fleas are real bad, you can mix a couple capfuls in a gallon bucket of warm water and sponge it over your dogs and let it dry naturally. Be sure to get their face and ears too and you will be flea free in no time. Plus it conditions their skin and coat.
The diatomaceous earth works too. I used that on my cats and no more fleas. They run when they see a spray bottle so I needed another way. I poured some in a jar (actually a jar with a lid that has holes in it-like one for parmesan cheese) and applied it in my screen room...it will make a mess when they shake but since you have fleas in your home that wouldn't be a bad thing, just try not to let them breathe it.
I live in Florida and have 2 dogs and 2 cats and none of my animals have had a flea on them since I started using the cedar oil. They have lots of products that you can use in different areas in and out of your home to be rid of pesky bugs and insects forever!
You said diatomaceous earth. And you said spray bottle. Do you mix it with water and spray on them.
I'm not sure how much it cost but it is called Borax its natural organic not poisonous you just sprinkle it on your floor and in your laundry. You can also sprinkle salt on the floor to get rid of fleas.

Shine a desk lamp that has a flexible neck over a bowl of soapy water every night with all other lights off in the house. You want complete darkness with only the desk lamp shining. The fleas jump at the light and fall in to the soapy water and can't bounce out. You have to shine the light right in to the bowl, make sure your light is supported so it won't tip over.
Also, what are you doing with all of those animals if you can't afford them?
Hey Farstar, the question "By Rena from AL" is how to rid her pets of fleas. Obviously, she is concerned with her pets' "quality of life", which has absolutely nothing to do with your opinions on money management. Please do us all a favor by submitting a relevant answer to the question or simply stay out of it! Perhaps you should submit your ideals/opinions to the White House, since it seems nobody there has mastered money management.
I have got to say something to those of you who are giving this person grief about having pets that "she can not pay for", walk in her shoes for a day! She obviously wants the animals to have a good life. You do not know how she acquired those animals! I have many animals that were not my choice to have, some people dump animals. Oh my. If I could only have the three dogs in my house, I'd be so happy, have more free time and more money.
But some cowards think they'll just take the animal to the country for a "good life." They do not care that the animal may not be rescued, that it may be hit by a car and take days to die, or that a wild animal will attack it tor food of just because; that the people who they imagine will take care of it may not want to or be able to; they do not care that the animal may not fit in with other residents. The just don't want the animal, but they are too selfish to have the animal put down. Surprise, surprise, most animal rescue groups are full and unable to take more animals. So, don't judge!
By the way, there are some less expensive flea control solutions: google flea control home remedies + dominion or + ivermectin for spot-on use. And ivermectin will also work for heartworms. Lots of qualified owners, hog dog and kennel, use these remedies.
BTW, Dominion has the same active ingredient as Frontline- which I did use and is expensive, especially when you multiply by 14! But before I found out about Dominion, I would buy the biggest tubes of flea control (for both the cats and dogs) and then split it based on individual weights. Messy and a pain to do, but good for money management.

You are trying to do a wonderful job keeping so many animals. But if these were homeless animals there are registered organizations RSPCS and numerous Pet Rescue who will place animals with Carers until the correct home can be found for them.
I have 2 cats 2 dogs. All now with bed of fleas. Took them all to vet to get treated...couple days later they all scratching worst. I put flea meds on them. Fleas collars. Bath them in dawn detergent. It helped some. Oatmeal for pets...didnt work..now someone telling me bathe in little bleach with oatmeal! Somebody help me can't keep giving $ to vet and nothing helping... em combing out fleas daily!
