Almond Caramel Roll

This is a great holiday appetizer or dessert to have with coffee.

Ingredients:

  • 1 can condensed milk
  • 1 pkg. slivered almonds
  • wax paper

Directions:

Boil can of condensed milk (unopened) for 3 hours. Make sure water always covers top of can for full cooking time. After 3 hours carefully extract can from water and place in refigerator until totally cool, about 2 1/2 to 3 hours.

Open both ends of can. With lid against contents on one side, push slowly onto waxed paper with slivered almonds that are spread out. This will be a caramel log that you will roll in the almonds until totally covered.

Slice roll thinly as this is very rich and very good. Serve with coffee. Yum!

Note: This will not explode. I've been making this wonderful dessert for years.

Servings: about 8
Time:15 Minutes Preparation Time
3 Hours Cooking Time

Does it turn out chewy like soft caramels? I want to try this!

Do you mean regular condesnsed milk or sweetened condensed milk? I would like to try it too but want to make sure I have the correct milk.

You are talking about SWEETENED condensed milk. Condensed Milk will not give you the same sweet carmel flavor.

I've made this many many times, love the caramel flavor! I found that if you cook it longer, it becomes darker and stiff. That is if I can keep my husband out of it, LOL.
