Help Planning Christian 50th Birthday Party?

I am a Christian and I need help on planning my husband's 50th birthday (Dinner Party). He will be turning 50 on December 22nd and I really need help on planning this dinner party and help with the menu. I'm on a tight budget due to the holidays. I will be having at least 8 people (Couples). Please is anyone out there with some feedback (A.S.A.P).

I would buy (4) $1 salads from Wendy's AS each salad can serve two persons adding your own onions, 4 hard boiled eggs quartered (put one half quartered egg in each salad), add 3 quartered seedless green grapes per salad and a sprinkling of mixed nuts with raisins in each bowl.

From there I would buy a package if cheese/or meat ravioli already made up in the freezer section of your grocery store. Follow boiling directions putting 5 to 6 ravioli's per soup bowl covering that with a ladle of store brand spaghetti sauce per bowl topping with shredded mozzarella cheese (which you can melt in the bowl with the microwave before serving).

I would have yeast rolls that can be purchased at Golden Corral from $4 a dozen to go along with the ravioli and salads.

For desert I would have birthday cupcakes that can be served with fresh coffee. I would make it cupcakes to remind the birthday person that they are still a kid at heart, besides cupcakes will not dry out like a cake will after it is cut into. So if there is a bakery near you the cost for 8 cupcakes would be no more then $8 IF they were a $1 a piece.

$4 for salads at Wendy's
$4 for a package of frozen Ravioli's (cheese or meat)
$4 for 2 large jars of the store brand spaghetti sauce
$2 for a handful of green grapes
$2 for a pkg of mixed nuts & raisins
(ASK GUESTS to bring their own dressing in their invitations as we all like different brands & kinds of dressings)

$8 for 8 cupcakes

Around $24 to feed 8 persons I think is great! Keep us informed on what you end up doing and tell the birthday person that they are no more then HALF A CENTURY OLD WITH EXPERIENCE AND DARING SOMEONE TO MESS WITH THEM or 5 PERFECT TEN'S, ha!
(That is what I told my family as friends many moons ago)

First of all, let me thank you for putting the fact that you are a Christian at the beginning. That doesn't happen very often. I believe it will also help you in getting ideas. If people respect that, you will not get ideas using alcohol or things like that.

I agree with Paula on her ideas. They sound great - or you could modify it a bit. Maybe as a game you could get the couples to write down their memories of your husband, put them in a box, and let him draw them out and read them. Hope this helps.

Have an elegant dinner party at the church in the fellowship hall, invite high school classmates, co-workers, friends, family and church members and have a dinner. I would have a dinner with fine china. Entrainment could be his children, friends and family speaking about how he has been an inspiration to their life.
