Edey's Fat Free Diet?

I have been eating the Edey's Fat Free ice pops. They are made of real fruit and have some vitamins in them. Is it okay if I only eat these on a diet?

Any fad diet that has you only eat Popsicles or grapefruit or anything so limited is very bad for your system. You might lose 5-10 pounds relatively quickly but then your body will start saving up and you will probably gain it all back with interest. If someone follows a limited diet like this for very long, they can have serious health issues.

From what I have learned, small balanced meals throughout the day are the best bet. The closer the food is to its natural state, the more nutritional benefit you will receive. Eat breakfast, drink lots of water and try to walk more and the weight will drop off you, but in a way that you can maintain.

You might also want to consult with your doctor, they can probably give you some specific guidelines.

Good Luck.

Absolutely not. You need low fat meals with a variety of foods and moderate exercise to be healthy. Eating one food exclusively is a bad idea. And it's not something you can keep up indefinitely. You need to develop good habits you can live with the rest of your life.

I can understand the allure of eating a single food item. It certainly is easier. However, it doesn't provide all the nutrients you need, even if you supplemented it with a vitamin pill. For example, you say that these are "fat free" ice pops. Fat is an essential macronutrient. There are many vitamins that require fat in order for your body to use them (such as vitamin A, E, etc). Most Americans do get too much fat but at a minimum you should get at least 10% of your calories from fat and the official government recommendation is at least 20% of calories should come from fat.

All that being said, ice pops sound really good for a good after-dinner treat. Especially when my house is so hot right now :)

If your diet includes other healthy food - you could eat them on a diet. You just need to make sure you "count" them - eg, Weight Watchers - yes but count the calories, fat grams, carbs, etc., it depends on what your "diet" calls for.

No No No, A thousand times no! Any diet in which you only eat a single food is so unhealthy as to be dangerous! Please don't do this! They sound fine as snacks or desserts in a healthy diet. But NEVER eat just one food.

Besides, if you limit yourself to a single food, you are setting yourself up for failure. No matter how good that food is, and how much you love it, eventually you will get tired of it, and then when you eat something else, you will feel like you're cheating on your diet, and therefore "fall off the wagon" and go on to eat other stuff.

Good luck on your diet! Just please eat healthily - and seeing your doctor is always a good idea.
