Does anyone have any idea how I can stop my toilet seat top from banging every time it is closed? The noise is very annoying. I will be grateful for any ideas/suggestions

There are replacement seats that lower slowly and don't bang. I got mine at home depot.
You can get these at some pretty good prices when Amazon (or Walmart or whatever" have a sale. Often, even when it's not a "sales holiday" you can generally find a good price on a toilet lid. A funny thing however is that when to stay overnight at a hotel/motel or at a friend's house, you inadvertently will find yourself "slamming" the toilet lid because you're no longer used to it happening at home.
A fabric toilet seat top cover, the ones that match bathroom rugs, work wonders. ;-)
Lowering the seat gently instead of letting it drop helps alot. Seriously though a toilet seat cover does help slightly. There are also the self lowering ones you can buy at Home Depot which are completly silent.
Don't you love the lectures? Just by some clear "bumper" type dots and stick them on the underside of the lid. They are self stick.
Ann.Parker, I'm with you. Your children's future significant others will (or at least, should) appreciate your civilizing influence. Frankly, it's also far more sanitary and safer to lower the toilet lid before you flush.
Hardware and home improvement stores sell little round felt pads with an adhesive backing. They're designed to put on chair legs to make the chair slide easily and not scratch wood floors. I think they'd do the trick and be a lot cheaper than buying a special seat.
What idea do you have to avoid the loud slam of toilet (it sometimes gets away from you). Thank you.
You may be able to find a new toilet seat that closes slowly. My new one does that, it stops about halfway and then slowly completes the closing. Look for "soft close" or "no slam" toilet seats at your local home improvement store. If you can't find one, here is one I found on Amazon.

Don't buy the fabric type as they will collect everything that misses the toilet bowl...yuck. Use the silicone instead and if they don't stay stuck, use some super glue to reattach or use a hot glue gun and make your own 'dots'. Simple fix if telling the users to close it quietly!
