Storing Bedding, Clothing, and Soft Toys

This is a great idea to store all your bedding, clothes the kids have not grown into, teddy bears, material your too busy to sew up, and seasonal clothes. Simply take anything soft you aren't using often, place it into garbage bags, fill them as full as you can but make sure you are still able to gather the top together.

Put your vacuum attachment into the opening and close the top around it. Hold it tightly, turn on your vacuum, and watch it shrink to about 1/4 of the size. Get the heaviest bags you can get, maybe garden bags. I'm going to get some super heavy bags from a janitor supply store. Well, happy storage.

How do you seal it so the air doesn't seep back in?{o

We did this for blanket storage. Just don't fill the bags too full and when the air is sucked out, roll the top down and tie in a knot. You roll the top down as tightly as it will go and end up with some of the bag in each hand- this is what you tie into a knot...hope this is clear, much easier to do than describe.

For bedding, spreading extra blankets and quilts between the mattresses keeps them clean and takes up virtually no space. Another advantage is that when needed, they are clean and easy to find. Grannygail

The heaviest, sturdiest bags are contractor bags, which you can get at Home Depot or Ace Hardware, & even sometimes in the grocery store. They would work for this & are also great for covering & storing large objects.
