Painting Walls and Cabinets in Kitchen with Grey Floor and Countertop?

I have a medium dark gray slate floor and medium gray fake granite countertops in my kitchen. I want to paint over the white cabinets and repaint the walls, but have no idea what two contrasting colors will work with the gray in the room. There are little flakes of gold/orange in the countertop so I was thinking of doing the cabinets a deep brown and the walls a rich pumpkin color?
