Flavored Vodka?

My husband likes the flavored Vodkas which are more expensive than just the plain ones. Is there a flavoring or extract which can be used? Thank you.

You can make fruit flavored vodka by taking 2 pints of fruit, and clean it by destemming, washing, and mashing slightly. Place in a container with a tight lid, and pour 1 750l bottle of vodka over the fruit. Stir and the refrigerate for 2 weeks. Straiin fruit from vodka. Enjoy. I have made raspberry and cherry, both good.

Any extract will work, you will just need to let it sit overnight. The fruit thing works great too. Martinis with fresh fruit are best. Pineapple, red plum (my favorite), grape, raspberry, cherry, orange, watermelon.

Sometimes sugar may be needed to get the extract to stay sweet.

Alton Brown did a show on flavored vodka on Good Eats. Here's a link for a pepper vodka recipe (www.foodnetwork.com/.../index.html)
