I recently got married. My husband snd I bought our wedding set on July 14. I wore my engagement ring till Aug. 14. A few days after we were married, I was admiring my rings when I noticed my wedding band was still "white gold", but my engagement ring had a dull yellow color.
I took it in to the jeweler, they said this is normal and will happen with wear. They supposedly replated it with white gold and re-rodiumized it. Exactly one month later "bam" the same thing.
Will someone please give me some advice? This jeweler is one of the more reputable ones in town, but it looks like I got a "lemon" ring. My grandmother's rings were white gold and after 50+ years never turned yellow.

Have you tried going to a different jeweler to get their opinion? I'd actually go to two. Sounds pretty weird to me that only one of a set of two rings is doing that!
I have worn white gold rings, etc for many, many years and have never had one turn yellow.
My wedding rings are white gold and after 25 years they are not yellow. I would get a second opinion.
I got engaged December 19, 2007 and got married April 4th, 2009 and my rings are slightly turning yellow on the bottom of the rings too. I was told by my jeweler that, that will happen over time and their isn't a whole lot you can do about it other than re-rodiumized it and it will come back over time again.
I have my deceased mother-in-law's ring, my mom's ring, and a very expensive one I bought for myself that are all white gold. None have lost their top coat or have any yellow showing through. I also have a white gold bracelet that I never took off for over 2 1/2 years. It has yellow showing through. While the constant wear does cause some to turn, I believe that older jewelry and expensive jewelry are made to hold up better than a lot that is sold today. I know that jewelry is expensive, but like everything else, a lot of it seems to be made cheaper. If I were you, I'd be upset that the gold is wearing off so fast.
Wedding and engagement rings are worn constantly and should hold up better than yours have. Call another jeweler and ask why your rings are wearing so quickly. Do you take your rings off when using cleaning products, what do you use to clean them in, etc. Maybe he'll have some answers or suggestions for you. I'd also talk to the place you bought the ring. They may be willing to make some type of exchange or compensation. Good luck. I know how frustrating it is to spend good money and have things happen.
I have worn my rings for over 35 years, every day, I never take them off; cleaning, scrubbing, baking, etc. I have them professionally cleaned once a year and scrub them with an old toothbrush every time I wash my hands. I have been a hairdresser, a vet. assistant, a day care provider, and currently work in the health care field.
Mine are 35 years old and look like the day I got it. Take it back, ask for a whole new set to be sent to you. You can ask your church leader (pastor, priest) to bless them as if they had been your original.
The same thing happened to me; the jeweler gave us the same excuse. Turns out we were ripped off. We replaced the ring.
Thanx to everyone for your advice, well, almost every one, sandra_grenoux, I really appreciate your opinion, but, if I'd wanted different colored rings, I would not have purchased a "matching set" or an alleged matching set anyway. Turns out, when we bought the ring, the saleslady told us the rings were 18kt white gold...well, I also did not receive an appraisal at that time. When I got the appraisal '1 month later', (the 1st time the rings had to be re-plated & rhodiumized).
It states that my engagement ring is "14kt white gold", my wedding band-18kt white gold...my receipt states that they are both 18 kt white gold...not white gold plated! Looks as if they are trying to pull a fast one! Don't let the clothes fool ya, I believe we were out riding the Harley that day & had our biker attire on! lol They also printed the appraisal as if we hadn't even purchased the ring from them! I will check with a couple more jewelers before taking the rings back, thanks ya'll! I refuse to take my rings in once a month to be re-done and no, I never take my rings off, except to have the incompetent jewelers "re-do" them.
White Gold jewelry should not turn a gold color no matter how old they are. I have my mother's wedding ring which is both white and yellow gold and it is over 60 years old and has not changed color. Take it to a reputable jeweler, get their opinion. Take it back where you purchased it and tell them you want what you paid for and what your original receipt states. If you aren't satisfied file a law suit and contact the Better Business Bureau.
