Leather Feels Tacky?

I stored a purse in a closet in Florida, the following year when I brought it out to use and leather strap feels tacky, sticky. I've tried rubbing alcohol and white vinegar, no change. Any suggestions?

Frequently, mildew will make leather feel tacky. Mix 1/4 cup of peroxide with 1 Tablespoon of rubbing alcohol. Saturate a rag with this mixture and rub the handle well. Allow to dry, then buff with a dry cloth.

If that doesn't do the trick, you might need to oil the entire purse (if it's all leather - just the handle, if not). Use mineral oil, mink oil, or emu oil. Buff thoroughly after applying oil. Be aware that oil will darken leather, sometimes dramatically.

Use WD-40, spray it on an old washrag and rub till it comes off. This also works great on your steering wheel stickyness.
