Inverted Tomato Planters?

Has anyone tried those upside down tomatoes? How do they work and taste? I also think that this method would work for herbs since you can move this thing around to meet the sun. What do you think?

If you are talking about the one that is advertised for tomatoes in particular, it works fine, but we only bought one to be sure of the way the center where the stem comes through the bottom is set up. After seeing that, we made a couple of our own, larger, out of plastic pots, with a band around the top, under the rim, and three good wire hangers spaced around.

They are supposed to be good for eggplant, as well as bell peppers, so I can only imagine that most anything would work quite well. We were also told that if your hanging plant will not get super big, you can also plant one on the top, but we didn't do that. As for ours, we are harvesting grape tomatoes, and have a larger variety coming on right now in the other two. Hope that is some help.

My son in law made his own upside down planters with 5 gallon buckets. Made round holes in the sides and poked many small holes in the bottom for drainage. He had really good success with his.
