Keep Leftovers In Small Containers

Before putting something in the fridge as a leftover make sure it is in the smallest container it can be, so it will take up less space and cost less to keep cool. No sense in keeping cool a whole crock pot when there's only one bowl left of soup.

I make a lot of soups so I use ice trays to keep mini bits of corn, peas, etc. for when it's soup day. Just a little pressure and they are out of the holes in no time, so you can get your meat going and then add the veggies. If you do this though, slip it back into a bread bag or a news paper bag. This keeps it from getting freezer burn.
