Removing Sharpie from a Painted Brick?

I need to remove sharpie from a painted brick. It has been settled for about 5 days now. It is very important that I do not damage the paint on the brick. I've read that the magic eraser does wonders, but I cannot risk the chance of it messing up the paint. Please help! Thanks.

Try WD 40. It works on walls to remove this. Let it sit a bit.
Of course try a hidden place first.

good luck

The cheapest hairspray you have. Spray on and watch it roll down and away. No scrubbing needed.
