Making a Toilet Paper Tube Santa Claus

This is a fun craft for all ages using the cardboard tube from toilet paper and gift tissue paper. Use a marker to make Santas with different expressions! Happy holidays!

Total Time: 30 minutes

Cardboard Tube Santa Claus Ornament - finished Santa ornament
 

Supplies:

  • red tissue paper
  • glue
  • cardboard tube
  • string
  • cotton
  • markers
  • scissors
Cardboard Tube Santa Claus Ornament - supplies
 

Steps:

  1. To make Santa's hat, cut a piece of tissue paper so it fits around the cardboard tube. Fold the edges inward.

  3. Put glue on the folded sections.
  4. Cardboard Tube Santa Claus Ornament - put glue on folded sections
     
  5. Wrap the tissue paper around the tube about half an inch down from the edge. Secure the other glued portion all the way up. Repeat this step on the bottom to make Santa's jacket. Attach halfway down the tube.

  7. Start pressing the top of the tissue paper together to make his pointed hat.

  9. Take a piece of string and fold it in half. Glue the ends inside the cardboard tube and pull the looped end out from the top of the hat. Glue the pointed tip of the hat shut against the string.

  11. Draw whatever facial features you like on the bare cardboard tube.

  13. Put some glue down on the edges of his hat, the top of his hat, and around his beard area.
  14. Cardboard Tube Santa Claus Ornament - add glue at the top of hat, around the base of hat and on face for beard
     
  15. Pull apart some cotton to fluff it up and place it on the glue.
