Floor Tile and Wall Colors for a Black and White Kitchen?

I have a black and white kitchen - white cabinets with black handles and black and white speckled cabinets. We currently have a black and white checked floor tile that we are planning on replacing as it is hard for me to keep clean. I am looking for advice on colors for floor tiles and a wall color that goes well with black and white.

I used marbled black tile for my black and white kitchen and love it; it hides a lot of stuff LOL

Hi, We just bought a house 8 months ago. My kitchen sounds like yours but the walls are red. The chair rails in the eat-in (connected to kitchen) are white. Red is very happy! It took me a few days to get used to it..but I love it! Good luck.

I have a 50's diner kitchen with the formica table and red chairs with white trim. I did all the walls bright red, with one wall bright yellow.

Everyone raves bout the look. Floor is black/white ceramic tile.

I have a black ceramic tile floor in my white and black kitchen. I love the floor and I have 2 dogs...one is a puppymill survivor who just got out of a cage where she spent her 3 years having puppies. Easy to clean with just a mop..water and vinegar does the trick.

Depending on your decorating style, you have a bunch of options here. Farmhouse, retro, etc. If you like the checked pattern, I've seen solid yellow and yellow and while speckled tiles used in a blk/wht kitchen that looked great. They were the old (cheap) tiles that are still available. If your kitchen is small, you might try laying the tiles on the diagonal. It looks great and makes the space look bigger. Until I bought a house with the blk/wht checked floor, I didnt realize how many wall paper borders have the checked pattern on the edges of them, too. Either way, if you stick with something thats sort of neutral, you'll have lots of decorating options in the furture.

We recently bought another older home, but the previous owner "renovated" the kitchen and installed honey colored cabinets and a counter that is a sort of marbled pattern of all shades of brown. From nearly blk, tan, and even some terra cotta in it. I've had a terrible time with it as I love reds, yellow, blue, green, and golds.
I have temporarily settled for black and tan plaid and checked homespun fabric for windows and seat pads for the chairs, and found similar checked throw rugs. The walls are off-white with white trim. I was still able to use my red silk geraniums and black eyed susans above the cabinets and a few roosters here and there.
Good luck with your choices!

My wife and I want to cover our kitchen floor in one inch black and white hexagon ceramic tiles. Do you think real estate agents will have the opinion that this classic look would be more suited to a bathroom floor.

My kitchen cabinets are sightly destressed white and my kitchen counter tops are black honed granite. I have white subway tile and also black 6x6" squares with a black filler piece. I also have a white filler piece with a beaded pattern on it. Do you have any suggestions in regards to wether I should start my tile with white subway tile coming off the black honed granite?

Or should I start with the black 6x6" at the base instead? Any suggestions on the l8" pattern that sits right under the cabinets?
