We found a St. Bernard / Chow cross he was in terrible shape. We clipped him and found maggots in his fur! After bathing and shaving what else can we do to heal this adorable big boy?

Take him to the vet. He probably has worms, and needs shots, too. They will also advise on best way to heal his skin/infection/lesions.
I went through that with puppies that we rescued, needless to say they did not make it. Their insides was full of magots to, so yes take him to the vet asap!!!!
I don't like shouting, but GET HIM TO THE VET ASAP, he is dying.

If you are able to bathe him, put some tea tree oil in his bath water. It doesn't cost much and it will soothe and help heal any skin infections, cuts, scrapes, etc, that he may have.
Regarding tea tree oil, please read this from the ASPCA Poison Control Website:

Tea tree, or Melaleuca alternifolia oil, does have toxic potential, depending on the circumstances of exposure.
