Are Super Absorbent Dish Towels Worth the Extra Money?

Are those super absorbent kitchen towels used for drying dishes worth the extra money? I have regular kitchen towels and I have to wipe several times before a dish is completely dry. Can you advise before I make a purchase?

I bought my mom several microfiber dish towels. She seems very happy with hers. If you hand dry your dishes, they will likely make the job faster/more pleasant.

These are pricey. How long do they last with normal wear?

In my opinion, yes they are definitely worth it. They dry your item in one swipe & it takes a long, long time for them to wear out. I have been unhappy for quite a few years with what the stores offer for dish towels as they all seem to be made in China or India & are so thin. From about April to Nov.

I go to yard sales & purchase used dish towels. Make sure there are no holes or worn spots or stains on them. I launder them before using & line dry. I sometimes buy them for 10 cents each. How great is that? And the best part is that they are made in the good old U.S.A.

I sometimes have a hard time finding good absorbant dish towels in my area. So I have started using hand towels instead. I can find some good absorbant ones just about anywhere, and most times they don't cost very much. I only buy maybe one or two every month or so. I have collected 8 so far and want to have an even dozen before I'm done.

Yes, I think microfiber towels are worth it. The one thing to remember is to not use fabric softener on towels because they become less absorbent. I air dry my kitchen towels. Microfiber towels with water are the only thing I can use to clean windows without getting streaks. I get the microfiber towels at the Christmas Tree Shop for $1.

The dollar stores may have them. I have not looked there. I use different colors for different jobs. Dark green for mopping the floor, pink and blue for drying dishes, etc.

It's also a good idea to wash bath towels without fabric softener occasionally to help their absorbency.

Cloth baby diapers are very absorbent. I've been using them for almost 40 years. Works great! JoJo

I like the micro fiber towels. I bought a bunch from the automotive dept. at Wal-mart, because they are cheaper.Only problem is they get lint, crumbs & anything else that stick to them. If you want them with something linty they will attract big balls of it!

The best thing I've used over the years are the cloth baby diapers. I've used them for dish towels & dust rags for nearly 30 years. I really like the pre-folded ones. They are super absorbent, last forever & are not linty. You can buy a pack of them in the baby dept. (I found a pack on clearance), or watch for them at garage sales & bleach them.

IKEA and Target both carry a 'flour sack' type kitchen/bar twoel that is super absorbet. They are comparable to the 'movie theatre' towels that used to be given out at theatres many many years ago. I'm still using the ones that my Grandmother used to get in laundry soap (when God was a baby), and they are almost identical in texture to those.

Just goes to show, they don't make things like they used to since these are all American made.
