It's been awhile since I read Peter Rabbit, but I think a rustic look would be key. For small plots lettuces and herbs can make nice borders. You could experiment with different colors. If you want to go for an English effect dwarf lavender in some terracotta pots would be lovely. Sweet peas growing up a fence would add color and a beautiful scent too. Old watering cans and wheelbarrows also make nice planters. Just drill holes in the bottom for drainage. Have fun!

Thanks so much for your ideas. I have been looking for a small wheelbarrow or watering can because they were in the story, also the sweet peas. I think it will be fun and I thank you again for your ideas. I am a Beatrix Potter lover.
