What a sweetheart, what a beautiful face, and what a great name. Aren't you lucky to have found each other. Thanks for posting Humphrey's picture.

OH - - - I just lovethosehounds! I had one for 10 years and they are just the coolest dogs. A real conversation starter - people would stop me when I was out walking with him just to pet him. Of course, he would always lay down and roll over for a belly rub. He figured that as long as they were petting him they might as well rub his belly!

That's great that you got him from rescue. Are you aware that Bassets are among the most abused and abandoned dogs? People get them not realizing that they are alot of work. When things don't work out, then of course, it's the "dog's fault" and it's either off to the shelter or just open the gate and let it go! Someday I will have a basset again.

He is darling! I agree about rescued dogs - I have two of them. One is a precious little beagle/dachshund female, and the other is a golden retriever mix male puppy.

I think rescued dogs are sweeter because they know they've been saved! God bless you and have a good day!

You are right about the dog rescues organizations having great dogs available. I live in Vegas and currently have a male and female basset from the www.rescuebasset.com program here.

He looks just like my daisy duke! She was a stray that wandered up the driveway, emaciated at a mere 25 lbs. She was seen eating out of recycling bins. We have had her since 2/13/07 and she is now 44 lbs. She is so sweet.

It took her a long time to warm up to/ trust us and give affection, so I suspect she was abused/ abandoned. I can't imagine who could do such a thing to her. but now you can't stop her. She gets along great with the other dogs, a lab and a rottie.

I agree with your statements about rescuing. I live near a major metropolitan area and there are always pure bred dogs of many popular breeds available for a cheap adoption fee at the local animal shelter.

Humphrey is the cutest! We have a basset hound at the dog park and he has the most adorable personality. He just loves to hang around all the other dogs. He just wants to be with them no matter what. When we were leaving with our dogs, he tried to get his leash to go with us.

We felt badly taking the dogs out of the park and leaving him because he enjoyed being with them so much. His owner said she would keep bringing back since he enjoyed being there so much, so that made me feel better about leaving.
