Homemade Garden Hose Holder

An easy, thrifty way to wind a garden hose: I had bought many different hose reels over the years, at considerable expense, but recently came up with this idea: fill a bucket with water (in this case, it's rain water), and wrap the hose around it. That's it! The water is used in the containers I have, so is not wasted, the full bucket is heavy enough to prevent movement and it's very portable. Best of all, it's free!

Caution: Small children can drown in open buckets. This system should not be used in homes with toddlers without safeguards.

I have a suggestion for those who do not want to pay for a garden hose holder of anything else for that matter. If you buy soda pop, or junk food, stop and put the money toward what you want to buy. You will be surprised at the short time it takes to have enough money. And your yard will look so much nicer without the pot on the side or the bucket.

Standing water breeds mosquitos. With a number of mosquito-borne diseases out there I wouldn't suggest this. Water in your pic looks yucky
