I was wondering if you have any recipes that can make my hair less damaged. I have curly hair but I straighten my hair everyday! Thanks!

First let me say I am so envious of anyone blessed with curly hair. I pay good money for those curls. Lol. Are you sure it is worth the damage it is doing to straighten it?
Since I do get regular perms and does damage also I continue to use what my mother did back in the 60's. Either a hot olive oil treatment, or mayonnaise, yes mayonnaise, I comb it thru, wrap my head in saran wrap. Heat with hair dryer and wrap a towel on for at least half an hour then wash and condition. Might help, good luck!

Coconut oil is the best deep conditioner ever. For best results, use extra virgin coconut oil (buy at health food store), heat it in the microwave for about 20 seconds. Work it into your hair and then comb it through well. Wear a plastic shower cap for up to an hour, and then wash and condition as usual. The coconut oil actually penetrates the cuticle of the hair and restores a lot of the moisture that heat styling takes out.

No other oil can do this, and neither can any commercial deep conditioner.

You can also use the processed coconut oil that many grocery stores sell in the cooking oil aisle. It's cheaper, but it doesn't have the coconut scent (instead smells like Crisco), and I don't think it works as well for me.

I too was born with that dastardly curly (& frizzy) hair... It drives me nutz when it rains! And I also made the mistake of using a cheapie brand of hair coloring which had basically "fried" it... I use "Store Bought" conditioners for my hair, not stinky mayonnaise (even though it's supposed to be good for your hair).

HERE'S WHAT I DO:

1) When I wash my hair I don't use shampoo, but instead clean my hair by wetting it then slathering it with conditioner which I then comb through my hair & scalp then clip up to be washed out the at the very end of the shower or bath. The trick to get all the dirt out of your hair is to use a wide tooth comb & thoroughly comb the conditioner through your hair & scalp! ...I do use shampoo but only once every week or 2 to remove any built up conditioner.

You need not spend a fortune on conditioner, just look for this ingredient in the first 4 words: STEARALKONIUM CHLORIDE. You can even find this in conditioners sold in dollar stores, I like to buy BRECK products at the dollar store because it's cheap, it's got lots of Stearalkonium Chloride in it & I use LOTS of it when I clean my hair.

2) After "washing" you hair with conditioner & towel drying it use INFUSIUM 23 leave in treatment... This is a must! ... & there are also 2 other products that I swear by: A dimethicone based hair shiner like Citre Shine or Frizz-eze. OR in place of this you can use a moisturizing finishing lotion like Garner Fructis "Smoothing Milk"... But put these products OVER the INFUSIUM 23 leave in treatment.

* You may not need these extra products at all... The Infusium 23 may just do the trick for you... It's great at temporarily putting split ends back together & taming frizzy hair whether it's straight or curly. I couldn't live without it & it cost very little too! One more thing that could help those who straighten their hair daily is to use one of those spray on "heat" type of styling products like Alberto 5 Extreme Style Heat Defense Spray (only $1.99 at Wallgreens). This stuff is super thin, almost like water, but it really protects the hair!

Eggs or Mayo! NOT Miracle Whip...MAYONAISE. It is not smelly if you rinse well.

One thing that really works for me is shampooing my hair like normal but use a different process for the conditioning. After you have shampooed your hair, squeeze excess moisture out. Then apply an ample amout of conditioner to your hair. Use a plastic bag (a grocery bag works fine) and put it over your hair and secure it tightly. Once you have done that, use a blowdryer to heat up your hair. (make sure you don't use the blowdrying in the shower even if it does save time) I usually heat my hair for about 8 minutes then rinse like normal. Your hair should feel much smoother once you are done.

Before shampooing, massage a tiny amount of vitamin e oil into wet hair. Then shampoo as normal. This works wonderfully on my dry, curly hair!

I have tried everything from coconut oil to $100 hair treatments to fix my damaged hair. From 1999 to 2007 I bleached my hair blond, then in 2007, I went to Japan and got a "digital perm" which ruined it. My hair was so limp, dry and straw like, it was horrible!

I finally found something that works and its $5,95 at the natural food store, it is HENNA! Henna is a natural plant extract, you can opt for the henna dye, but if you just want to give your unhealthy hair a boost, you can use Light Mountain Henna in the neutral shade, which offers no coloring change, just a conditioning effect.

The product is only $5,95, and I would honestly pay $30.00 or more for it, (depending on how bad my hair is). You have to buy distilled water for $1.00 to mix with the henna. The whole process takes about 6 hours.

First you have to mix your henna with distilled water in a plastic or wooden bowl with a plastic or wooden spoon, you cannot use metal because the effect of the metal could turn your hair green. Then you let the mixture sit for 3 hours.

Then you apply it to your hair, its sort of like green clay, you have to leave it on for 3 hours, otherwise you will not notice a difference, you can even sleep with it overnight, if you can figure out a way to do this while keeping your pillow and bed clean, i recommend it.

Then you wash it off. Your hair will be so healthy you won't even need to use conditioner anymore, I just did it for the 3rd time with my friend yesterday, and we've both been getting complements on how healthy our hair looks.

I hope you guys can try this, you'll really love it, I know how horrible it feels to have damaged hair that doesn't seem to respond to treatments, henna made my hair so silky and shiny, but it took about 6 hours, so make sure you do it on a Saturday!

I have tried everything and spent money on expensive salon conditioners but the frizz eventually returns. A few months ago, I had some high-lights and starting using the John Freda range for blonde hair, the lilac tubes. The color of the shampoo and conditioner is lilac. Apart from keeping the color fresh, no frizz! I also, before blow drying, use the serum, the one that also heat protects, and it is great. I straighten my hair every day and since using this range, I never have a problem with the frizz. I really thought after the high-lights my hair would be worse but if I had not had it done, I would never have tried out these products.

After you wash your hair in warm water, microwave heavy olive oil for 15-20 seconds. Quickly touch it to make sure it is warm and not scalding hot. Apply to the ends of your hair and massage upward to your scalp. Make sure your hair is completely saturated at the ends. Take plastic (a plastic bag will do) and wrap around your hair. Leave on for a minimum of 30minutes. When my hair has been badly damaged from highlighting in the past, I leave it on, wrapped in plastic with a hair cloth/towel wrapped over the plastic on my head and sleep with it on. Do this 2-3 times a week and your hair will quickly look great.

For oily hair, use white vinegar. (believe me.. it works) in the shower, wet your hair, and apply white vinegar into the scalp. Rub it, and wash it off, after this, apply normal shampoo.

I do it every single day, and leaves my hair perfect. and no, it leave no odor.
A friend of mine, has psoriasis, and use the vinegar also, at first he said it hurt, but you wouldn't notice he has psoriasis in the head (scalp).

4 words. Red Wine and Eggs. Whip them together and massage into your hair before you wash it. It left my very frizzy hair smooth and soft. I've been using it since I was 10 so you can use it on your children's hair without the bad effects!

I have dry coloured hair and the Shielo Hydrate Conditioner makes my hair so soft and shiny. and this is the best, also smells natural not full of sodium and chemicals like most other hair brands.
