There are quite a number of healthy dog biscuit recipes on the Hodgson Mills website. You've probably seen the Hodgson Mills flour and other baking products in the large chain grocery stores.

Dog Biscuits

From an Amish store in Indiana. This is the basic recipe, and it will double or triple as you need it to. They keep longer in the freezer than it states in the recipe I've found..

Ingredients:
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/3 cup cornmeal
1 Tbsp. canola oil
1/4 cup chicken broth, low sodium
1 egg
1/8 cup milk, low or fat free
1 egg, beaten for egg wash
additional flour for rolling

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
Add oil, broth, eggs, and milk. Mix until thoroughly combined. Whisk together wheat flour and cornmeal, and add to the above.

Roll out dough on a floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut with cookie cutters. Gather remaining dough and roll flat. Cut as many dog biscuits as you can. Brush the egg wash onto each cookie.

Bake for 30 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool completely on a wire rack.
Yield: Approximately 2 dozen dog biscuits using a 2 inch cookie cutter.
Storing: These chicken broth dog biscuits bake hard and will last 4 weeks in the refrigerator or 6 months in the freezer.

I don't know who shared this recipe with me, but it's a good one. We keep a container of cheerios, chopped carrots and broccoli stems or raw apple bits on the table to give our dogs when we're eating so they feel part of the pack. It's an excellent bonding thing.

Do a Thrifty fun search. I've got several from here. Their favorite (and mine because it's so easy) is from Three Dog Bakery.

Four ingredients, peanut butter, whole wheat flour, baking powder, and milk. They love them!
