Start an Emergency Gift Box

This has saved me so many times. I have a box of goodies. When stuff is on sale, I buy two or three of like pencils, pens, toys, hair stuff, candles, etc. So when someone has a birthday, or baby shower, I go in the box and find an appropriate a gift. Also works as bribery for my 6 year old! I put everything in my box, along with wrapping paper and bags. I am never unprepared.

That is an excellent suggestion! I'll have to start doing that. I've recently started crocheting baby blankets to stash away for next time I get unexpected shower invites!

Take nice but unwanted items that were received for the holidays and put them in a box for emergency gifts. Also buy good gift items on sale or at garage sales. That way you never have to run out and buy a gift at the last minute.
