Applesauce Date Cookies

Ingredients

• 4 cups flour
• 1 tsp. salt
• 1 tsp. cinnamon
• 1 tsp. nutmeg
• 1 tsp. cloves
• 1 cup butter
• 2 cups sugar
• 2 tsp. soda
• 2 cups applesauce

• 2 eggs, beaten
• 2 cups chopped nuts
• 2 cups dates

Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Mix together flour, salt and spices. Cream butter and sugar thoroughly. Stir soda into applesauce. Add egg and combine with the creamed mixture. Gradually mix in dry ingredients. Stir in nuts and dates. Drop by teaspoonfuls 2-3 inches apart onto a greased baking sheet and bake 15 minutes. Makes 8 dozen cookies.
