Cochise (Collie)

Cochise (Coach) is a 2 1/2 year old Collie. I rescued him in 2009 from a home that could not keep him. He was actually too gentle for the other two big dogs that lived with him.

He likes to run, run, run, watch over my young nieces and nephews and guard my backyard, looking like a big, beautiful lion.

In this picture, he is running at my urging. I yell, "run, Coach, run" and he takes off. He is a big doofus, but is so loving. He wants to play with all children he sees and believes he should be able to chase all little dogs, since he does that with my sister's Bijon Frise all the time.

He also thinks he is a lap dog and wants to climb in my lap with my other (little) dog. He sits with his nose next to me when we ride in my truck. He is the best!

She is just beautiful! I always admired collies when I was younger. Guess it was because of Lassie. You can tell she is happy and well cared for. I hope you enjoy her for many years.

How lucky you two are to have each other! It sounds as if he's as sweet as he is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, I was a big fan of "Lassie" too from the time I read the book "Lassie Come Home" followed by the movie, and then the TV series (never missing an episode). My three daughters and one son grew up with "Lassie" too, so I kinda got a quardruple dose of Lassie. I'd still be watching it if it aired in our area anywhere. I have a love for all collies that runs very deep in my soul, I think.

What a beautiful collie Cochise is, and it sounds as if he could just step into the role of "Lassie" anytime
and do a marvelous job of it.

Thank you so much for sharing him with us. How lucky you are to have ended up with such a wonderful family member.

I absolutely love collies and Cochise is so very handsome and lovely to look at! I did got a giggle over the 'Run, Coach, Run' part of your story about him, and especially since his tongue is hanging out in the picture, because it put the cute and lovely vision of 'Run Forrest, Run' to mind. ;-)

Collies are totally far out-require a lot of grooming but, its a cool thing-when I was young my doggie bud (one of two) was a sable collie at 4 months and lived then 14 years-we did 4-H state fair and some akc shows, he was so intelligent /tuned in to each others feelings/a wonderful buddy-good memories-we had a couple of goats back then in country mountains-one place we lived and neighbors told me they were driving up the road my goats were crossing and my champagne stood in front of them until they crossed the road-cool eh?

I have two dogs. One is a very small 8 pound shih tzu mix. The other is my collie, Cochise. He is two years old, weighs 75 pounds and wants so much to be babied like the shih tzu. He does not understand that he is too big to get in my lap. But my nephew, David, makes him feel good. Every time he visits, he picks up Cochise and babies him. Cochise LOVES it!

Cochise, loves to sit at the door of my travel trailer and view the campground through the screen. He finally realized that if he used his nose to push open the sliding panel, his nose fit right through the opening and he had a view unobstructed by the screen. His big nose fit just right. Then he discovered that he could just push on that little black lever and the door would come open - then he was free!

Cochise, and my sister's Bichon Frise, Chloe, are friends. The smaller dog, Chloe, usually is the boss of my lovable, easy-going collie. But on this day, he decided to take charge. She seemed to accept it just fine (or maybe she was just unaware)

"Lassie" doggies will always steal my heart. My children would never ever miss an episode of the "Lassie" series on TV, and it's almost impossible to find anything on TV today as wholesome or that touches your heart the way Lassie did.

Your Cochise is a gorgeous Collie, and I'm sure just as smart as he looks. Nice-looking young man holding him too.

Thank you for sharing your photos.
