Storing Table Linens in Limited Space?

How do you store napkins and tablecloths? My space is limited.

I don't know whether you will be able to do this, but I have a closet where I hang nothing but my tablecloths. It keeps them from getting so wrinkled.

I keep all my cloth napkins in a three drawer chest of drawers which is in my dining area. I have a lots of them too. Not only ones I have purchased, but some I inherited from my Mother. I also use the drawers to house placements, table runners, and linen bread covers. Most of the napkins are approximately 26 inches square so I fold them in half three times making them small enough to put lots of them into each drawer. Therefore they are ready to go to the table once I take them out of the drawer.

You might think about buying one of those 3 or 4 drawer plastic rolling cabinets and see how that works for you.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

If you don't have room in a drawer, cabinet or on a closet shelf you can store them in low height plastic or cardboard storage boxes under your bed, sofa or even under your kitchen sink. If under your kitchen sink they should be in a plastic container in case of a water leak.

My mother used to hang the more delicate ones on giant hangers that had large in diameter round cardboard tubes on the bottom so as to avoid fold lines and wrinkles. I don't know where she purchased these items, as this was long ago, but I bet they were actually for hanging quilts (due to their enormous size).

She devoted a closet and cabinet to her linens - to her this was an important facet of maintaining a proper household.

I store mine in those "food saver" wraps. I have to iron them before use, but they take up a lot less space because they are compressed. I keep the "packages" on the top shelf in my bedroom closet.

I don't have much space either. I keep my bed sheets in a suitcase. Maybe that will work for your table clothes : )

If they are ironed, they stay better for me on hangers.

This may sound unusual but what about laying them between the boxspring and the mattress. Don't fold them they would lay more like a sheet.

I am not sure about tablecloths either but I have a great storage plan for sheets. At least it works for me. I fold the fitted sheet and then fold the flat sheet and one pillow case into a small square. I then put the three pieces inside of the last pillow case and fold it in half. There you have a small neat bundle that stays together.

When your want that set of sheets you don't have to hunt for pieces that have slid off or gotten misplaced. Just pull down the one pillow case and they are all inside waiting for use. It works great and believe it or not, it really saves a lot of space.
