Put a piece of masking tape on the card and write the amount left on the card after you make a purchase. Then there is no doubt how much is left to spend.

That's just what I do, Syd. I much prefer that to the new habit of stores writing the balance on the card with a black marker. If I use the card on several occasions I end up with black marker writing all over the card, amounts crossed out and re-written, etc.

I'm seeing that done more an more lately. Tape is the solution!
