Which Acne Products Should I Use?

Should I use Oxy Daily Wash and Cetaphil together and BP after washing with these 2? Or should I just use Cetaphil and BP or Stridex?

Thot

Hi,
I've been going to a dermatologist for a long time but it was always for eczema and severely dry skin. Though, as soon as I hit 30 I got lucky? and my hormones went out of whack and I ended up with acne that I should have had in my teens. So I was put onto Accutane because I wanted it gone quickly and had tried other medications and they were
leaving marks.

But, my dermatologist recommended that if you have the monthly flareups or occasional pimples, don't overdo it with tons of products because it just makes them worse. I wash with SpectroDerm (Canadian Cleanser) but, Cetaphil is also recommended. And then he said to go to the pharmacy and ask for Solugel. (It's really quite cheap actually, especially considering everything that's marketed for acne and pimples in the marketplace).

I use the 4% formula but there is an 8% as well which just means that that's how much benzoyl peroxide is in the formula. The only other ingredient is Dimethyl isosorbide. (No long laundry list of things you have no idea what's sitting on your face or anything, just two straight ingredients that fight acne - that's it).

***I actually just checked the main site for this product and oddly enough you can buy OTC products with higher Benzoyl Peroxide in it but, they also include many other ingredients in them as well so I don't know how effective they are. But apparently this item is a prescription drug in the States for some reason. (Usually it's the other way around). You can order it online from; www.canadadrugs.com/.../

So far, this was the cheapest link I could find for it. Other places were charging up to double and over for it. And some were requiring a prescription when it's sold as an over the counter gel acne treatment.

If you still have problems getting it and want to try it out - just contact me and I can get you a tube of it and you'll only have to pay what I pay plus shipping. (I'll put the receipt in with it). Only thing to remember with this is to make sure you moisturize because it dries out your acne or pimples. Good Luck!

You should use good old soap and water. My dermatologist suggested Dove or Olay soaps..and acne is usually from an infections in your system. It isn't the foods you eat! Good luck, and just wash your face as often as possible.

hi, I would like to suggest you give the skin care sytsem called Proactive a try. I've been using it for 4 yrs and it has been great for me. I turned my sister onto it and she has been using it for 2 yrs and swears by the stuff. Proactive is not as expensive as everyone may think as they have a club that you join and it costs about $45 every 2 months and if you use the product correctly it will last you alot longer than they estimate. For me I only pay 3 payments and have enough for almost a year. I'll explain: I only use it once a day which makes it last longer. Each system they send lasts me for almost 3 months! So I only pay for the first 3 shipments which is about $135 when you add it up and I call them and "suspend" (not end) my membership for 6 months which is about a month or so before I'll be needing a new one and have used the others, and I start the process all over again without losing my valued customer status and discounts. Now, to explain how I use the product wisely: It comes with 3 parts to the system (cleanser, toner, lotion), I wash my face w/a mild soap when showering, then I pat my face dry (never rub), then while damp, I apply the cleanser as suggested only needing about a dime size amount at this point, rinse, pat dry, then I apply the toner by pouring a small nickel size amount in the palm of my hand and soak it into a round cosmetic cotton pad that I pre cut in 1/2 and then apply that, allow to dry and then apply the skin repair lotion.

I do this only once a day. Also when you begin to use it you will not see results right away as it is going to bring the impurities within your skin to the surface so it may seem a little worse before it seems to appear better but be patient and you will be pleased with it. Another thing I also saw dramatic results in my skin once I removed sugars from my diet and drank water instead of juices/sodas. Because they also cause alot of impurities in your system. Water is a cure-all if you drink enough a day. Hope this all helps and Sorry for the lengthy post

I have tried proactive and clean and clear and almost every acne treatment out there but acne free worked so good, within the first few days I saw major improvement in my skin, it wasn't dried out, or to oily, the redness from the acne went away and my face really cleared up. I love it.
