Cleaning an 18 Wheeler?

My husband drives an 18 wheeler and he gets tar and oil all over it. He currently uses diesel to remove it but he gets it on his clothes and shoes and it's awful. Any suggestions on how to more efficiently clean such a large truck more quickly and less toxically would be greatly appreciated.

My ex-husband & I had a pressure-washing business many years ago & cleaned several rigs on a regular basis. Nowadays you can rent one of these machines from places like Taylor Rental (or any type of rental place that has uncommon equipment--backhoes, tents for special events, etc.), so you don't have the expense of buying one. You could also check your local area for a pressure-washer business and see what they would charge to clean his rig. Even if he's an independent, perhaps his company would spring for a monthly cleaning to help promote their own image.

I have found that using WD-40 sprayed directly on the road tar then some on a rag, hold the rag to tar for a few seconds, keeping the WD-40 from running. Then wipe and repeat if nessasary

Mr. Clean Eraser Sponge to the rescue! Every time we get home from long trip, I bring this out and scrub all the dead bugs off!
