Stain on Ceiling?

Here's a good one. You know those decorative jello like window clingy thingy's that you put in your window for holidays, etc.? Well, my husband and son thought it would be fun to throw them on my white kitchen ceiling. Needless to say - they stuck and left a greasy type spot and even left color. HELP! How do i get that off without repainting the whole ceiling?

If your ceiling is white or a light color you could try a water / bleach solution:
Take 1 part bleach to 3 parts water, then soak a clean sponge in the solution. Get up on a chair or step ladder & hold the sponge to the ceiling for a bit. (Be careful to put paper towels or washcloths around your wrist, so the bleach-water won't run up your sleeves. Use rubber bands to hold them on.) You should also wear Eye Protection.

*** Use Care to not get bleach-water in your eyes while holding sponge above your head!

DIY's "The Queen of Clean" says this:

Shave cream is another great spot remover. Put some on the spot and massage it in real well with a soft cloth and then blot it all up. It works well because it is nothing more than whipped soap and works great as a little spotter.

* If this doesn't work & you have to paint your ceiling. You will need to prime your ceiling with a "stain blocking" primer before painting. You might also try to match the ceiling with a matching color of spray paint for a temporary fix. (anything's better than green!) Another "Stain Blocking "Primer" is Shellac.... Shellac will work to block stains before painting if you don't have a stain-block primer around the house. Real Shellac is the main ingredient in some stain-blocking primers.

Hi, I have one of those textured ceilings and I use white out to dab on spots that get up there.

rubbing alcohol will remove the ink left by the cling and leave whatever other dirt may be there except for smoke so it shouldnt fade the ceiling and leave a white spot thats real noticable
