Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1 can cherry pie filling

Directions

Mix flour, brown sugar, oatmeal and margarine together. Put half of mixture in bottom of an 8 inch square pan. Cover with cherry pie filling. Sprinkle rest of crumb mixture on top. Bake in 350 degree F oven until brown on top.

I think the temperature needs to increase to 375 I baked mine for a hour and a half at 350 and it still didn't get done all the way. Plus I think you should brown the bottom crust before you add the cherries because the way you have it the bottom comes out all slimy and not cooked right.

Ingredients

Pastry
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup butter
Filling:
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • Advertisement

  • 1 cup cherry juice
  • 4 cups pitted tart red cherries
  • few drops red food coloring (opt.)
Topping
  • 1 1/2 cups quick cooking oats
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 5 Tbsp. butter, melted

Directions

In mixing bowl combine salt, sugar and flour. Cut in butter. Press into 11x7 inch baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees F for 15 minutes.

Combine sugar and cornstarch in pan. Stir in juice. Cook over medium heat until thick, stirring constantly. Fold in cherries. Pour over crust and put topping on. Bake 20-25 minutes at 375 degrees F. or until golden brown and bubbly around edge. Yield: 6-8 servings.
