Green Food Ideas?

I need ideas for foods that are green for a green rainbow tea table. Also how to color certain foods with food color.

How about stuffed green peppers for a main dish.
-----
An old standby, what my family calls "Green Stuff"

1 (9 oz.) carton Cool Whip

1 pkg. instant pistachio pudding
1 (20 oz.) can crushed pineapple, undrained

Mix together and refrigerate.
-----
Cabbage and Carrot Jello Salad

3 ounce package lime Jello
1 cup boiling water
3 tablespoons sugar
1 cup cold water
2 tablespoons vinegar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup shredded raw cabbage
1 cup grated raw carrots

Prepare Jello in boiling water and stir in sugar. Add cold water, vinegar and salt. Chill; when slightly thickened fold in carrots and cabbage. Chill.

For green cake, while beating the cake add 1 drop green food coloring at a time until it is the color you want. Same thing goes for making green frosting.

Sounds like fun!
Pasta Salad (use spinach pasta)
Salad with Green Goddess Dressing
Andes Candy's
Punch (grapefruit pop, limeade, pineapple juice & lime sherbet). If you ever need a girly pink punch swap out w/pink lemonade and raspberry sherbet) Yummy family favorite!

We drag out the old huge glass punch bowl for this stuff!

The thought of all that food color would make me go right back out the door, Good for the other posters, there are plenty of naturally green foods. How about guacamole?

How about good ole LIMES. You could serve limeade garnished with fresh lime or use a bowl of limes as a table decoration. Or key lime pie(dyed green)

If you are set on using food coloring, start with a little then add a drop at a time until desired color.
You can also color some white flowers(like carnations and roses) by making a fresh cut in the stem and stand in water mixed with food coloring. The flower sucks up the colored water and dyes the flower from the inside out.

re: food coloring
You don't say what color the food is. In general, use paste color (Wal-Mart or party store), try on a small sample of the food. Don't try off-beat colors. The ideas given above would suit better than trying to change a food to green. It will look better and more natural. (Think green beer for St.

Patrick's Day).

My last-stand resort would be to call a bakery, speak to the cake decorator and ask her/him what to do for a food you can't get right. Don't take up much of their time. They're usually too busy, but may help if you don't waste time. Good luck, as before, the tips above are the best.
