After washing her, within two days she stinks. It's just bad dog smell. She's been licking at her front toe nails until they bleed. The vet gave me spray but it's not helping. I don't know if this part of the cause of the smell. She doesn't lick her nails all the time just some time. Any ideas?

Did the vet rule out allergies? Yeast infection? Might be time for another trip to the vet.

Could this odor be caused by the dogs breath? If the nails seem to bother him and the medication not helping, go back to the vet. Good luck.
From a natural point of view Bad smell overall is usually caused from a toxic dog and a toxic diet. Pet foods, like baby formula are scientifically engineering to meat your dogs " daily requirements" but that does not mean, like formula they are the best foods for your dog. You can make scientifically balanced dog food if you know what to put in it. I recommend a book called A complete guide to Natural Health for Dogs and cats by Dr. Pitcairn. He has easy diets to detox dogs and many natural remedies for them. If you do not wish to make your dogs food I would suggest buying a grain free food to start. It is hard not to spoil them and give them processed foods that we eat with all the chemicals and additives, but it pays off. these are things you can try that are natural if you want to try to help your dogs body to heal itself. Also Thyroid and immune function is believed to be suppressed by chlorinated and fluoridated water.

Apply a solution of plantain (Plantago major) to the lesion. Preparation involves adding the leaves of the plantain plant to one cup of water. Boil for five minutes then let stand for five minutes or until cool. Use cheesecloth to strain out the solution. Apply the solution topically twice a day or as needed. You can also buy this ointment or black ointment at the health food store. The black ointment draws out infection and things stuck in the skin. Also "Bag Balm" is helpful for mild cases.

Also bought at health food stores in tinctures for people and pets. Hops, Skullcap, Valerian Root, and Passion Flower help to reduce anxiety.
HOMEOPATHIC REMEDIES
You can find these at the natural store too they are so safe that there are no contradictions with drugs or other therapies and you could eat the whole bottle without harm though that would be a waste a small bottle lasts a long time and cost 6-9$'s.
Arsenica album 30c helps reduce constant chewing and licking. Give one pellet every four hours for three treatments.
Rescue Remedy (my favorite), three drops, three to four times daily, given by mouth or added to the water bowl has a calming effect.
Essential oils- Idaho Tansy best for animals can purify cleanse, restore tissue is anti inflammatory, anesthetic and is used for bruises, cuts, wounds and colic,so wont bother the tummy and repels flies.
Lavender for tissue regeneration, desensitizing wounds and scar tissue.
Melrose or tea tree is used for disinfecting and cleaning wounds.
Valerian for pain.
Make sure your oils are highest quality and are not mixed or watered down or they can make your dog sick.

Sounds like a fungus infection, or her diet may be to blame. I would bug the vet for some explanation, maybe try her on some other food to see if an allergy is to blame.
