Plan every shopping trip, especially those to the grocery store. Learn the prices of items, so you'll know what is a good buy and what isn't. The more coupons, the better prepared grocery list, the less that has to come out of our wallets. It's money that can be used for other purposes.

It's so important to know the prices. We have a store regularly doing the buy one get one free sort of thing. I know they make up for it on everything else. I just noticed that they get a whole $2 more for a package of Snackwell cookies! If you take into account everything else then nothing is free unless that's all you buy there!
The whole thing about careful shopping is to free up some of the same total amount of income for other needs. Otherwise, something doesn't get paid, causing late feels, stress, and the next time not covering some other basic need.
Your right about the BOGO's (buy one get one free) I use to work in a grocery store and they would sometimes jack the price so you weren't really saving as much as you thought. Also, usually this is only on brand names and if you are into buying the store brand you can a lot of times get it cheaper buying the store brand.
