Grilled Tuna and Cheddar Sandwiches

Warning, these sammies are huge and are messy to eat. Good to share for two.

Ingredients:

  • 2 5 oz cans tuna, drained
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • Advertisement

  • 1 Tbsp. Dijon mustard
  • 3 heaping Tbsp. dill pickles, chopped and juice squeezed out
  • 2 heaping tsp. dried minced onions
  • Cheddar cheese slices (I like sharp), enough to cover two slices of bread
  • 4 slices bread of your choosing (I like sourdough)
  • Butter, softened, for browning or mayonnaise if you prefer ;-)

Directions:

Mix first five ingredients in a bowl. Top two slices of bread with the cheese slices; spread the tuna mix equally on top of the cheese and then top with the other two slices of bread.

Butter the outside of the sandwiches like you normally would for a plain grilled cheese sandwich.

Cook, cheese side down, in a large skillet over medium to medium high heat until cheese is melted and bread is browned, turn and press gently with a spatula and cook until that side is browned.

I love hot tuna melts with cheese; this sounds delectable! Maybe with some tasty potato chips on the side! Thanks for this die hard tuna recipe!
