We picnic a lot. I love to keep this sack full of plates, napkins, wipes, etc. I appreciate having all the items in one place and ready to grab and go.
Materials:
- reversible quilted fabric
- cotton fabric for drawstrings
- bias tape
- sewing machine
- thread
- pins
- scissors
Directions:
- Cut one circle 13 inches. I used reversible quilted material.
- Sew 1/2 inch bias tape or seam binding to the circle. Any contrasting color works well.
- Sew 6 inch tall piece of quilted material to the seam binding and bottom circle. Your piece will now start to look like a tube.
- Sew 1/2 inch bias tape or seam binding to the top of the six inches. The same contrasting color will work well.
- Cut 2 pieces twelve inches high and 22 inches long or as long as 1/2 the diameter of the quilted circle.
- Fold over and you will now have a 6 inch high piece to sew to the seam binding. Sew both pieces making sure there is a 1/2 inch opening between each piece where they meet.
- On the folded edge measure 1 1/4 inches and sew a seam for your drawstring.
- Cut two drawstrings 44 inches long and 3/4 inch wide finished.
- Draw them through with a safety pin and close.
- You are done!
After a picnic, this bag can be washed and "recharged" for your next day in the sun. Enjoy and be sure to apply sunscreen!
