Frugal Parrot Perch

Parrot perches can be quite expensive. They need jungle gyms and toys to play with or else they get bored and begin to exhibit negative behaviors like feather plucking. My parrot loves a wooden collapsible clothes dryer, the kind you hang clothes on in your house.

He climbs on it and loves to chew the wood. It's not pretty like the ones you buy at the pet store, but it's only about $10 instead of $40.

Also try using assorted sizes of dowels from the craft or hardware store--- natural branches are okay if they haven't been pesticide sprayed. Mine used to like peeling bark from apple or willow branches.

What a terrific idea! You can make a perfect playgym by hanging some toys and maybe adding a boing and a couple of ladders. Wish I had heard about it before I spent $150 for a gym at Xmas time.
