Preventing Suede Shoes from Getting Shiny?

I recently bought some rough leather boots at JCPenney's. I have several pair of shoes made of this material. It's not the slick leather, it's more of a suede. The toe area on almost every pair after a few wears begins to wear thin and get shiny. This looks really bad.

I have only had these boots about a month and only wore them a few times but I noticed just a couple of days ago the right one is getting shiny, or dull however you want to describe it. It isn't like the rest of the boot. Does anyone have any ideas on ways to prevent this? I would appreciate your help. Thanks.

I use a small wire brush that I got with my suede Bierkenstock's but you could use any small wire brush. Just don't brush too hard in any one area.

Hi, Connie - Try rubbing the areas with dry corn meal or baking soda to lift the suade, then brush out gently with a soft toothbrush or dish towel. Good luck! Melinda
